I thought this would be a happy occasion, to be honest, given the Truth Booth outcome, but... ah.

Are you okay?

[ Ryuji huffs and crosses his arms for a moment... before uncrossing them and leaning on his knees, rubbing his palms over his jeans. ]

I'm — I'm really happy about the Truth Booth stuff. Like, just to start. I'm really happy! Wednesday is — she's amazing and I can't believe I got picked to be her perfect match! Shit is incredible.

[ Buuuuuut. ]

... S'just that. I dunno. He makes me so mad with his pretending. I thought we could've been teammates here but he keeps viewing me as the enemy.

[Ryuji....... even now, wanting to be teammates...]

... Did you tell him that? Not--all of the other stuff.

Maybe you just have to let him pretend, and tell him... you want to work together.

Then... you have to let him come to a decision in his own time.

[ He gives a shake of his head there. Nope. ]

I tried to talk to him about it but he kept pretending he didn't know me. It just — it pisses me off, man! How am I supposed to tell him that and be honest with him when he won't be honest with me?

[ BLEH.... he sighs and leans back in the seat. ]

Prolly ruined it though, sayin' that shit about his mom. I know that's a sensitive subject for him but I just wanted a reaction. It was too far though.

[Tsukasa just tilts his head to one side, hands on his hips.]

Maybe he won't accept it, but that's his decision to make. At least you can let him know how you really feel about the situation.

And Sakamoto! Cool head! Keep a cool head! You can do it!

[ Ryuji doubts Akechi will accept it but ... well, he's gonna have to try anyway. ]

Okay, I'll try.

[ And he's quiet for a moment, rubbing the back of his neck as he thinks. ]

He has a match here, right? He's not gonna try lookin' for it, ya know. Whoever is matched with him is gonna be shit outta luck 'cuz he's gonna be thinking about how to sabotage the game instead.

This is why I wanted to team up with him, 'cuz I knew he wouldn't believe this game or take it seriously if he didn't have someone to try and encourage him. This is like, the worst possible outcome now.

[WELL.... Tsukasa just rubs the back of his neck at that, looking a little sheepish.]

Well... at that point, it becomes a numbers game, right? If you can find everyone else's matches, you'll know his too.

The show must go on, Sakamoto. One way or another.

[ Ryuji looks a little inspired by that, giving a soft laugh and nodding. Right, right, the show must go on. Of course it must. ]

Yeah, you're right. I've got you, you know? Now that I've found my match, Imma find everyone else's too! I really want to help.

[ He pauses for a moment, thinking before he looks back at Tsukasa. ]

Is there anything else ya wanted to ask me? I know I just came in here talkin' about Akechi and everything but. I feel better now, I swear.

Leave worrying about the audience to me. For now, you should focus on your own happiness, and that of your fellow competitors. That is also pivotal to our success, after all.

[ Ryuji nods, grateful for the instruction. He's feeling a lot and this is all kind of overwhelming, but if he can narrow his focus onto just this. Then maybe it'll be okay. ]
