Ryuji is invited to take a seat right in front of the cameras, while the overseer smiles at them brightly and waves.

And asks them questions, of course.

They don't have to answer truthfully, but they should be aware that every single last thing they're saying might very well end up in the final cut.

The others will certainly not hear it from me.

Besides which, you don't have to be a mascot or anything like that. Simply being their friend should be more than enough, I'd imagine!

[ The cameras would never betray him, wdym? ]

Okay. I'll be their friend. [ . . . ] Hey, how many of these shows have you run, Tsukasa?

[aspirings]

Ah, this is my first.

[isn't it obvious--okay, no, Tsukasa does not think so.]

I've acted as an extra in a movie before, but I am usually a stage show actor.

Why do you ask?

[ Oh. That answer is... disappointing and it shows on Ryuji's face. Ah, he thought Tsukasa was... experienced at this? Oh no. ]

Just... wonderin' how other seasons went. Ya know, like if they got perfect matches before or if people lost their wishes or whatever.

[ He has not watched the previous seasons, at all. Yes, even the season with Akira. ]

[aspirings]

[ouch ryuji jeeze]

Well, I did watch the seasons for research before I accepted the offer.

Only one person has lost their wish before in five previous seasons. And there have been a few Perfect Matches found across all of them.

[boneface]

[ SORRY....... ]

[ That does reassure him. Phew. ]

Cool. I'm trying to understand how different it is this time compared to... other times? What we can do better as a group and stuff? What do you think?

[aspirings]

[Hmmmmmm. He considers that, arms crossed.]

I really do mean it when I say that you're all doing excellently. The number of lights you got the second week is the most anyone has ever found that early.

[Even so...]

There are definitely still a few problem areas where you don't know much, though, as a group.

[boneface]

[ That last bit makes Ryuji look alert because, well, he didn't know that at all. It's like Tsukasa offered a carrot on a stick to him and he's so curious now. ]

Can you tell me or would that be cheating?

[aspirings]

Well... I do not know the pairs myself, so keep that in mind.

[he is definitely not the end-all be-all because he...... would spill too easily so they didn't tell him.]

But I believe Miss Arnault, Josuke and Kat-san have a large number of options, and are still trying to figure them out. They are all very likeable people, so it isn't a large surprise.

[boneface]

Oh, you don't?

[ Huh. That's news to him! But it only takes like, a moment of thinking where even Ryuji can tell that's a wise move on the producers part.

He nods at the assessment though and considers it. ]

Yeah... it seems like Will's got caught up in a bunch of it the past two times. All the focus is on him. Ritsuka and Lessing seem... pretty solid after this, unless we're super off the mark.

But those three, def murky as hell. Everyone likes 'em! And not in the Will way. They're just generally liked. Hell, they could be each other, couldn't they?

[aspirings]

[god, getting roasted by Ryuji internally.... that really says something.

Regardless, he just nods.]

It certainly could be. There's no reason why it couldn't.

I imagine their matches will be difficult to narrow down, even though you've all done well so far.

[boneface]

[ look, he just knows a kindred spirit when he sees one/ ]

Someone waaaaay smarter than me is gonna have to like, grab a whiteboard and try and figure it out. We got so close last time, wouldn't it be crazy if we get it next round? Being off by one is like, worse than any other option, I think.

[aspirings]

[god the producers would be so mad if they got it a week early--

Tsukasa thinks and does not say.]

Don't think of it that way! If you are off by one next week, then you've simply stepped even closer to the solution. And you still have the Truth Booths as well, of course!

[boneface]

[ that's fair. they should be mad. ]

I really hope we're able to figure out who to put in the truth booth this week and I hope it's another perfect match. It's gotta be like... one of the pairs from this past ceremony, right? So, wait, then it's gotta be the one who's not a match, right?

[ Tsukasa is not the person to answer the questions, Ryuji. ]

[Tsukasa absolutely is not the person to answer these questions.]

I'm afraid that is something you will all have to decide on together.

It may be a little complicated, though, given...

[ Ah.... yeah. Yeah. ]

... We'll figure it out.

[ He BELIVES in them. Maybe! ]

Of course! I have absolutely no doubts you will!

[FOR SURE. HE TRULY BELIEVES.]

Still, I am sure it will require everyone working together, at least to some extent...

So I'm glad to hear you will be helping everyone out as well, Sakamoto.

[ Ryuji feels a little flustered at that last comment. Aw, Tsukasa, you're so nice to him...

But he nods and he feels reinvigorated. These convos with Tsukasa always leave him feeling like he has a purpose here. It's nice! ]
