( r6 ) honeymoon suite
WELCOME TO THE HONEYMOON SUITE!!! i cannot BELIEVE i had to toss this up real quick

You're led to a beautiful skyrise apartment, and the penthouse suite is, you guessed it: all for you!
The view's stunning, the beds are huge and comfy, you finally have your own private bathroom, and there's a cook on call who will make anything you want to eat. There are games, TV, and if you're bored or missing an activity, it's probably somewhere in the sprawling apartment.
Basically, you're living the life of luxury now, so enjoy it!
You can always head down the elevator, and a personal chauffeur will take you back to the house so you can mingle with everyone else and still enjoy the shenanigans. But you can always come back here to chill, bond and relax, all alone.
Congrats!

She takes out a few pieces of clothing at a time, already neatly folded, though she's unpacking her axe—holding it steadily by the grip—when he mentions phantom thieves, and pauses to glance over at Ryuji.]
You mean the gentleman thief? The character archetype? [
wrong atlus gameThis seems an... interesting prelude into his tale, though, and not one she expected.]
no subject
Yeah! Alright, this is gonna be a lot, let me just... figure out how to start.
[ He lifts a hand to rub at his chin, considering where to start his story. ]
My friends and I... we're a group of thieves called the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. About a year ago, we discovered this like, break in reality called the Metaverse. I dunno how it works, to be honest, I just know that through an app on our phone we can change realities to enter the Metaverse which is like... the world but everyone's cognitive self is in it instead of their real self. [ Cognitive. A big word for Ryuji and he still doesn't really know how to use it right, but he hopes Wednesday understands what he's trying to say, at least. ]
It's kind of like this place, right? 'Cuz it's clear we're not in our "home worlds". This ain't the Japan I know and it's not where you're from either. It's something else. And that's what the Metaverse is.
But the Metaverse is super fucked up. There's these distortions of people's thoughts called Shadows in there that attack whoever enter it. They're basically fucked up monsters. The only way to defend yourself is to use your Persona. Personas are this... like... superpower that comes to you in the Metaverse but it only works in the Metaverse. My Persona gives me the power of lightning and brute force damage. I can electrify Shadows and other things in the Metaverse if I want.
The Metaverse impacts the real world though. So, this is where the thief stuff comes in. A year ago, we discovered that people who were bad — like really effin' bad, like politicians and CEOs and shitheads like that. They hold power in the Metaverse because their thoughts and desires are so effed up and they have so much control over people that it takes over. They have these special places in the Metaverse where all their secrets and shit are stored and my friends and I thought hey, fuck these guys, let's steal their shit and change their heart.
So, that's what we started doing. We'd target these big shots and steal their "heart" in the Metaverse, which changed them in the real world. When you steal their heart, it erases the dark shit of their heart and turns them... not good but like, they feel guilt for their actions. We got these assholes to confess the evil shit they did on TV and everything.
That's when people started to fear us. We were enacting justice on these assholes and really changing the world. It was... pretty cool, for a while.
[ But then he trails off there, starting to think of what happened next and grimacing. ]
Uhm, do you get me so far?

It's probably something of a comical sight, the way she stands there unmoving for a long while, holding her axe just-so. She doesn't mean to, but his story is... wildly unexpected. It sounds almost fantastical, and not in a way that she ever attributed to Ryuji. Which is her own fault, she supposes; too often have many of the contestants here surprised her, judging them upon first impressions only to find none of it was accurate. How stupid of her to make the same mistake she so often criticizes others for.
But... the Metaverse. Personas. The power to change someone's heart. All of this is leagues beyond what she could've even guessed at, and while she has a vivid imagination, it's quite a bit to unpack. She's trying to imagine Ryuji wielding lightning and beating up(???) a monster in this alternate, cognitive reality. Wednesday wishes dearly that she could see it.
She blinks when he asks her if she's still following. Her look is vaguely baffled, but not because she doesn't understand, per see.]
Yes. I think I understand.
[ ...
She finally puts her axe down on the bed.]
I'm just surprised. This is... Well, I guess I expected a much more mundane tale. [Not that she thinks Ryuji is mundane, but y'know.] But what you're telling me is that you possess the equivalent of superpowers that manifest in a world of the mind — a world you foray into to slightly the dispositions of those who take egregious advantage of others in the "real world." Is that right?
[help Wednesday is actually the more normal one in this pairing]
no subject
Yeah! Exactly!
[ He grins, bright, and nods his head quickly. ]
I was pretty normal before it though, so you're not wrong to guess that. I never would've even thought of this bein' real if my friend and I didn't stumble into the Metaverse first. And it gets even... weirder.
[ Alright, time to describe the problem child. Akechi. ]
So, Akechi, right? I told you he was supposed to be in prison. Well, that was — I'm sorry but I kinda lied. There's more to his whole deal than that.
Akechi's another Persona user. The thing was, he was working for these big shots as a Metaverse assassin. He'd go in and find their enemies and kill their cognitive selves, causin' them to die in the real world. His Persona has the power to drive people crazy instead of something more normal. So, he'd use that to ruin people's lives and kill them and it was — it was pretty bad.
He used his job as a detective to cover up what he did and pin the deaths on other reasons. It made him famous as this teen detective. Then when my friends and I started getting noticed as the Phantom Thieves, he was tasked, kinda, with catching us. So, on the surface it seemed like he was the detective catching criminals but in reality, he was using the Metaverse for shit reasons while we were trying to help people.
But — before you write him off as a bad guy, it wasn't really his fault. He was doing this on the orders of this politician, Shido, who was his dad. Shido was kind of this big mastermind behind a lot of the shit we ran into, the worst of the worst, and he was running to become prime minister. That's when we knew we had to target him and change his heart.
[ And then Ryuji's mouth pulls into a line as he thinks about what happens next. ]
Okay, before I get into the really crazy shit, lemme just tell you what happened with Akechi. My friends and I eventually confronted him in the Metaverse and tried to get him on our side but Shido knew that Akechi was about to give in and give him up so sent... [ A pause, even he's sure trying to describe the "Akechi was killed by Akechi" thing is going to be hard to do without hella context, so... ] He sent someone after him. Killed him in the Metaverse before Akechi could spill his secrets.
So, yeah. He's supposed to be dead.
[ But even if Wednesday is the more normal one of these two, it does not mean Ryuji is not ready to match her freak regardless. ]
no subject
Well, she wasn't wrong. But once again, the degree to which he was involved is surprising. She had an niggling idea that there was something about his personality that he was keeping tamped down, something that only Ryuji knew the true extent of — but being an assassin? Ordered around by his own father? Only to be ultimately killed in the Metaverse?
(Another one of them, supposed to be dead, yet on this show all the same. How morbid.)]
Akechi has quite the story that he's keeping to himself, then. But it isn't too surprising that he'd rather make a good first impression on this show than reveal his true hand.
[Huh.]
So then why is he here? Do you know?
[Have they spoken about that? Is Akechi's here only for the wish, and to use that wish to live again, or...?]
no subject
It's prolly to get his life back. Even though he died in the Metaverse, it wasn't the last time we saw him. The last time we saw him was a few months after that, when this doc we knew rewrote reality with his Persona to "fix" everything and brought him back to life. That's when we teamed up to get the doc to put everything back to normal, which also meant Akechi being dead again. I haven't seen him since we did that so I assumed he was dead for real, but since he's here I gotta assume shit is weird again for him.
[ It's a little bit of a tangent, because it has nothing do with how the things with the Phantom Thieves or Shido ended but he can't pretend the stuff with Maruki didn't happen either. So, he's happy to explain The Akechi Situation first to Wednesday, so she knows what's going on. ]
I really feel bad for him, honestly. He's supposed to be dead but if he keeps being brought back to life like this, how is he supposed to rest? If I were him, that's what I'd be using the wish for. To get my life back and either be alive or be dead but no one's able to mess with me anymore.
no subject
To have a permanent death, unwilling to be given another chance at life... That truly is morbid.
[And while she appreciates it, usually, her enthusiasm is lacking this once — it does sound... like a rather terrible position to be in.]
You think that's more likely than him wishing to be alive?
[Because it says a lot about his, ah, mental state, she thinks. Depending on which he chooses.]
no subject
I think... it'll kinda depend on being here, right? 'Cuz if he still feels alone at the end of this, and like even being alive won't help, maybe he'll choose to accept being dead. [ Gosh, that really is morbid to think about. ]
I'd rather him go back though. My friends and I can take care of him, help him get a fresh start. I dunno, guy like that... he's done a lot of bad things but we all deserve second chances, right?
[ He laughs then, a touch embarrassed. ]
This is a lot I dumped on ya. I wanna hear about you instead, but I do wanna finish up and say I'm not a phantom thief anymore. The metaverse kinda imploded and we lost our powers after fighting Yaldabaoth. So, we're back to being normal high schoolers now.
But! What about you? I heard your family's kinda quirky, right?
[ Just... drops the fighting a god thing and moves on. No big! ]
no subject
Have no doubt that Wednesday Will Remember That, and probably bring it up later. But fair's fair. He's spoken a lot about himself, and she hasn't offered too much in turn; and she's learned far more about Akechi than she's sure the other teen would be comfortable with. She has to decide what to do with that information — whether to approach him with it someday, or to let the rest of the house Deal With It.
Well. For now-]
Very well, though don't think what you said isn't worth a follow-up question for later.
[Sir???? Anyway!!]
Quirky is one word for it. I could use many other unflattering terms, too, though I will give them the credit for being committed to all they choose to pursue.
[They're a persistent presence in her life. Stubborn, in their own loving way. (This could also be used to describe Wednesday but don't tell anyone.)]
I live with my mother, father, and younger brother, Pugsley. We're what are called Outcasts — those who skew more towards the strange and supernatural in society. As you can imagine, we often stick out like a sore thumb amongst the normies. [This is said a bit like a point of pride.] Regardless of that, parents are disgustingly in love, to the point of nausea. My brother is often the sole target of my tortures and experimentations; he's told me he's missed it, ever since I went off to Nevermore Academy.
[Hmm, what else? Oh, how could she forget!]
There's also Thing. You saw him in my photo at the truth booth.
no subject
As for Akechi though... well, yeah, he probably wouldn't like that Ryuji spilled all this to Wednesday but then again, it's his story too, isn't it? He doesn't want to hide anything from Wednesday and it would be uncomfortable for him to pretend his history with Akechi didn't exist. So, deal with it!!
Moving on, he listens eagerly to Wednesday describing her family. They sound... fun? He loves the idea of having two parents who are in love, considering his own history. He doesn't like to think of his dad and his mom has always been a little broken so the idea of having a family who loves each other like it seems Wednesday's does... that's pretty cool.
So, he smiling, warm as she describes them and then when she mentions Thing — that's when he remembers the hand in the photo and. Oh. ]
Oh, the hand was like, real? What is he? A pet?
[ Do you have a disembodied hand as a pet, Wednesday? ]
no subject
No, not a pet. [Her lips quirk, though, at the thought of Thing taking offense at being called as such.] Thing's very real, and he's what we call a "handservant."
But, he might as well be part of the family at this rate.
no subject
Huh!
[ He has so many questions. Why? What? How? All the questions. ]
Is Thing the weirdest part of your family? Like, on a scale of, super normal mom and dad and house with a dog to aliens from outer space secretly wearing human skin, what's the weirdest part?
no subject
The weirdest part...
[How does she answer that? There are aspects that she considers just daily life in the Addams household that most would think weird. Not only weird, but off-putting.]
I'm not sure I can pick out only one. Every member of my family is odd in their own way. But we love all things dangerous and always come away unscathed from the activities we set upon each other.
[Torture. Poisoning. Threats of bodily harm. All lovingly done, and no Addams actually ever, like. Dies from it. They have narrative immunity, when it's from each other.]
Though perhaps that's more of a "superpower" than an oddity. [Wry.]
no subject
Hell, that's one cool superpower even so. I'm guessin' that's some of the experiments you mentioned doin' on your brother, huh?
[ How lethal are these experiments, he has to wonder... ]
Your family sounds... really cool. S'just me and my mom back home which is fine, we're pretty happy, but it must be nice to have such a lively family.
[ A pause and he's thinking for a moment before — ]
I think you'd really get along with the other thieves. My friends. They're all kinda weird too but we're all kinda, hmm, misfits in a way. You don't do what we do without that and I don't think you'd do what you do if you weren't a misfit too. It's a badge of honor, right?
no subject
[That's because he wasn't dead to begin with, Wednesday.
She tilts her head slightly, though, listening to Ryuji speak of his own family. His mom, with whom he seems close with. (Imagine being close with your mother!!) And his friends, his fellow thieves, which she must admit, she's quite curious about.]
Misfits? Then we'd all share something in common. [She is literally an Outcast, after all.] You're right, it's not something to be ashamed of. It's a title that we should all wear proudly — especially when used properly, much like you and your friends do.
I... hope I can meet them, someday.
no subject
But really, their families seem wildly different but he can see... cohesion there. He'd like to meet Wednesday's family one day, and introduce Wednesday to his mom, he thinks she'd like her. It makes him think a little of the future, which is maybe too soon to think about but definitely has him curious about what a long term relationship would look like with Wednesday.
Especially when she says that last bit, of wanting to meet the Thieves. Of feeling kinship over both being misfits. His expression is warm in response. ]
I hope so too. I dunno how this game will shake out but I want... to show you my life a bit and to see yours. However we can make that happen.
